Grocery Price Book & Basket Planner | Excel + Google Sheets
Compare groceries by unit price and by the actual cost of buying whole packages — in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Record prices you observe at different stores, plan a realistic shopping basket, and see the estimated amount left in your budget.
What the planner does
- 100 editable price-book offer rows and a 60-item shopping list.
- Normalizes compatible units (ounces/pounds and fluid ounces/gallons) to help compare prices.
- Identifies suggested packs using price per unit.
- Rounds quantities up to whole packages when estimating checkout cost.
- Shows estimated basket total, budget remainder, and items missing a recorded offer.
Included with your purchase
- Excel ZIP: blank .xlsx workbook, fictional worked-example .xlsx workbook, illustrated one-page PDF quick-start guide, and readme/license notes.
- Google Sheets: separate blank template link. Sign into Google, click Make a copy, and edit your own copy.
Digital delivery and compatibility
The Excel ZIP and Google Sheets link are delivered electronically after checkout. No item is shipped. A Google account is needed for an editable Sheets copy. The Excel and Sheets versions are independent and do not sync. The Excel files are designed for desktop Microsoft Excel; the Google Sheets version is a separate native workbook with core formulas tested on sample inputs.
Important limitations
You enter grocery prices manually. There is no live store-pricing API, coupon validation, store inventory integration, or tax calculation. A lower price per unit does not always produce the cheapest basket when only a small quantity is needed. Prices and estimates depend on the information you enter.
